Scenarios: How can they clinch the FedExCup?
Editor’s Note: While it’s true that Vijay Singh is certainly in command of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, it’s not over yet. Steve Dennis takes a look at how Singh — and his challengers — can clinch the big prize.

Number Crunch: BMW Championship
The penultimate Playoffs event is upon us as the PGA TOUR heads to St. Louis, Mo., for the BMW Championship. Defending champion Tiger Woods will not be in the field due to his season-ending knee surgery, but there’s plenty of excitement brewing after back-to-back wins from Vijay Singh, who leads the FedExCup points race by 12,225 points.

T.J.’s Take: Garcia learning valuable lessons from Singh
Just like the rest of the 144 players who qualified to participate in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, Sergio Garcia’s goal was to hoist a Tiffany trophy and deposit $10 million into his bank account at the end of the four-tournament series.

Vila Sol combines plush accommodations with 27 holes of golf magic
The Algarve region of Portugal’s most southerly coast is a golf paradise that has been on a rocket-ride to world golf fame for the past 40 years or so. The British, who invented the game more than 6 centuries ago and have never been generous in their praises of others who “intrude” upon British territory, were the first to recognize the brilliance of Algarve golf. The Irish, who have made golf a national past time, seem to have a similar view as the Brits in their adoration of The Algarve and her golf courses. And American golfers are just now coming to the same realization - golf on The Algarve is something quite special — a world-class collection of superb courses, all designed by some of the best talents known in contemporary golf.

Fantasy Insider: BMW Championship
It’s been 16 years since Bellerive Country Club has been on the radar (Nick Price won the 1992 PGA Championship there), and based on everything I’ve seen and heard about this layout, that’s too long a wait. Shuffle over to Archway City and let the bubble watch begin — only 30 players will advance to the closing event of the playoffs, THE TOUR Championship. Time to shift into overdrive; this is a critical week.

E-notes: Haas maintains Charles Schwab Cup lead
Here’s an oddity. Through the first 22 events of the season, no tournament had co-leaders entering the final round. That ended this past week at the Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach when four players shared the lead heading into Sunday.

Sleepers: BMW Championship
Editor’s note: PGATOUR.com has tried to make our experts work a little harder when they make their picks each week. The favorite can be anyone in the field, although Tiger Woods could only be used seven times during the year. Sleepers can’t have won in 2008 or had a top 10 in their last five starts. A sleeper can’t be ranked in the top 30 in the field, either.

Rock Solid Performance: Singh at TPC Boston
Vijay Singh won his second consecutive Playoff event on Sunday and has a commanding lead in the point standings with two tournaments left to play. Over the course of 72 holes, Singh averaged 6.3 birdies for every bogey — more than four times better than the field average of 1.5. While players in the field averaged just under 16 birdies and 10 bogeys for the event, Vijay made 25 birdies and only four bogeys.

Final Round: Vijay cruises to win, huge Playoff lead
NORTON, Mass. (AP) — Vijay Singh made three long birdie putts and closed with an 8-under 63 to win the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday for his second straight victory in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup.
